Our ocean is truly awesome
But it is not invincible. Our ocean supports all life on our blue planet. It produces half of the world’s oxygen and absorbs 90% of the excess heat from climate change. It provides habitats and ecosystems for millions of unique species. It is directly responsible for the prosperity and quality of life of people around the world.
We depend on our ocean for so much, and year over year, we demand more and more. From plastic pollution to overfishing and offshore oil drilling, human action is stressing our ocean and threatening its ability to sustain life as we know it. Our ocean is calling out for help.
For more than 50 years, Ocean Conservancy has answered the call.
