The World Plastics Council believes that plastic litter does not belong in the environment, including the ocean.
The World Plastics Council (WPC) provides global plastics industry leaders with a platform to help end plastic waste. The critical work that Ocean Conservancy’s Trash Free Seas Alliance® has done identifying solutions to marine debris, including the Stemming the Tide analysis and report, aligns with WPC’s mission to develop robust waste management infrastructure around the world. WPC also supports Circulate Capital, the investment management firm dedicated to incubating and financing companies and infrastructure to reduce ocean plastic pollution. Members of WPC actively work to ensure that all plastics packaging is recyclable or recoverable by 2030, and that all plastics packaging is re-used, recycled or recovered by 2040. “Ocean Conservancy is the world’s leading conservation group focused on protecting our ocean, including by reducing trash. We are proud to be a member of the Trash Free Seas Alliance® and contribute to the critical work underway, identifying solutions to marine debris.” – Jim Seward, chairman of the executive committee, The World Plastics Council
