POSITION SUMMARY

The Information Systems Project Manager, under the direction of the Director, Data Analytics & Business Intelligence and working closely with the IT and Operations teams, will establish and implement a comprehensive project plan for all information system projects.  By acting as the liaison between the business and technical aspects of information system projects, this people-oriented leader will partner with staff in identifying needs, system selection, implementation, testing and training as well as post-implementation follow-up activities.  With an eye on budget the project manager will provide a comprehensive project timeline, taking into consideration institutional and departmental calendars, effectively communicating project milestones through status updates as well as roles and responsibilities of the team.  Contributing to the organizations ongoing success, the Information Systems Project Manager will identify needs for process improvement involving all impacted employees and envision an enhanced solution.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Act as project manager and point of contact for information system initiatives, responsible for compiling requirements, establishing timeline, budget and scope.
  • Establish and document milestones with clear ownership of responsibilities, providing ongoing reporting of progress and holding people accountable to deadlines.
  • Manage resources for projects including equipment, sourcing of technology components and people.
  • Ensure thorough project team collaboration and provides analysis of deliverables, determining they meet the quality standards necessary for acceptance.
  • Determine communication plan that keeps the project on track, facilitating meetings when necessary, using other communication methods as appropriate so that communication is meaningful and perpetual.
  • Manage vendor relationships ensuring they are held accountable for the success of our project, managing scope and deliverables.
  • Use project management tools to track progress and schedule adherence, training staff on the use of such tools as appropriate.
  • Conduct risk assessments for projects including impact on internal and external collaborators, budget, schedule, policies, etc., and provides options to mitigate such risks.
  • Determine need for policy development, providing recommendations based on industry standard and institutional impact.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by networking with colleagues in the same space, attending conferences and workshops.
  • Serve as the Information System’s subject matter expert to colleagues to ensure consistency with organizational initiatives and operating principles.
  • Provide input and guidance on the educational curriculum for information systems for new and ongoing employee development.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in technology solution role.
  • Knowledge of the principles, procedures and methods used in information systems and design.
  • Demonstrated project management experience.
  • Exemplary problem-solving skills with a “can-do” attitude.
  • Customer-service oriented with the ability to present ideas clearly and concisely.
  • Experience in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with cross functional individuals.
  • Experience in nonprofit fundraising environment, team player that is conservation minded and excels in a dynamic, fast-paced environment in highly desired.
  • Ability to assess risk and make recommendations on technology decisions based on risk analysis.
  • Demonstrated experience in identifying key technology challenges and determine opportunities for improvement through process or systems.
  • Demonstrated analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent communication skills to diverse employees and vendors with sense of humor a plus.

EDUCATION/TRAINING

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems, Information Technology, Information Science, Computer Science, or Bachelor’s and appropriate substantial professional experience.
  • PMP or Project Management Certification a plus.

COMPENSATION

Ocean Conservancy is committed to equity in its pay practices and posts expected hiring ranges for each of its positions. Salary minimum is $91,361; salary midpoint is $114,124. Compensation will be commensurate with the candidate’s specialty skills, years of experience, location, and unique background.  We would welcome the opportunity to connect with potential candidates whose salary requirements may be outside of the expected hiring range.
