POSITION SUMMARY

The Membership Marketing Manager is responsible for managing production for all acquisition, appeal, renewal, sustainer, Guardians of the Seas and Champions direct mail campaigns. The position is responsible for maintaining and improving processes for all direct mail, online, telemarketing and special giving programs, ensuring high data integrity and financial accuracy.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manages all aspects of direct mail production for 50+ mailings a year. This includes art creation and approval, print proofs, setups, output counts, insertions and lives. Ensures accuracy of each effort prior to the mailing.
  • Manages joint costs project for direct mail from creation to finish by underlining 50+ mailings for fundraising, program and administrative content and completing all joint costs spreadsheets.
  • Manages all aspects of production of the yearly Ocean Wildlife calendar.
  • Manages procedures and processing of the monthly giving program, including establishing and processing monthly donations both online and offline, maintaining donor data, updating expired credit cards and managing communications with this donor segment. Monitors and creates procedural guidelines to ensure consistency in monthly giving histories.
  • Manages all telemarketing campaigns including script review, data selects and imports, and state registration paperwork.
  • Manages the entry, and allocations of all invoices related to membership and the direct mail program. Tracks the invoices against budget and works with the Membership Director as needed to adjust budget to reflect program needs and opportunities.
  • Manages premium creation and monitors inventory for upcoming campaigns.
  • Works with digital team to review source coding on a monthly basis.
  • Works with the Membership Director to review all digital fundraising outreach to ensure consistent integration of the digital and direct mail platforms.
  • Provides assistance to the larger Development Department by importing daily gifts files and performing monthly reconciliation when needed in coordination with other team members.
  • Provides costs, mailing quantities, and other information as needed to direct marketing consultants and list brokers.
  • Contributes to strategy and benchmarking discussions and meetings, keeping well-informed of the latest industry trends and historical performance.

REQUIRED SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE

  • Proven accuracy with extreme attention to detail; demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong multi-tasking abilities; able to work independently with self-accountability.
  • Experience making process improvements with the support of a team.
  • Experience with relational databases; Raiser’s Edge experience highly desirable.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office products, particularly Excel.
  • Experience with nonprofit organizations, particularly in the fundraising arena, preferred.
  • Commitment to the highest level of internal and external customer service.

EDUCATION/TRAINING

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred and/or five years of successful related experience and/or training

COMPENSATION

Ocean Conservancy is committed to equity in its pay practices and posts expected hiring ranges for each of its positions. Salary minimum is $64,993; salary midpoint is $81,267. Compensation will be commensurate with the candidate’s specialty skills, years of experience, location, and unique background.  We would welcome the opportunity to connect with potential candidates whose salary requirements may be outside of the expected hiring range.
