POSITION SUMMARY

The Senior Accountant position is responsible for all aspects of General Ledger maintenance.  This includes an array of tasks from review of data entry to ensuring that monthly financial statements accurately reflect the status of the organization.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Review and manage the Accounts Payable process
  • Prepare monthly journal entries
  • Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations
  • Assist in the preparation of select annual adjusting journal entries
  • Assist in the preparation of select annual reconciliations
  • Assist with year-end annual financial audit preparation
  • Identify recurring problems, offer suggested solutions, and seek resolution of issues.
  • Assist in ad hoc reporting as assigned
  • Other duties as assigned

REQUIRED SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE

  • Requires 4 or more years of recent relevant experience.
  • Good knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • The ability to work independently.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel required.
  • Great Plains and Concur experience a plus.

EDUCATION/TRAINING

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (a Bachelor’s in Finance or Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting can substitute for the BS in Accounting).

COMPENSATION

Ocean Conservancy is committed to equity in its pay practices and posts expected hiring ranges for each of its positions. Salary minimum is $64,993; salary midpoint is $81,267. The midpoint represents the market rate for a position, and a fully experienced employee may be paid at this level. Compensation will be commensurate with the candidate’s specialty skills, years of experience, location, and unique background.  We would welcome the opportunity to connect with potential candidates whose salary requirements may be outside of the expected hiring range.
