Mayor of Tequesta to Attend Event as Alliance Announces Bold Efforts to Protect Local Wildlife and Shorelines

PALM BEACH COUNTY, Fla. — The Jupiter Narrows Conservation Alliance (JNCA), dedicated to preserving the vital mangrove habitats that sustain local fish, birds, manatees, and other wildlife – in partnership with Ocean Conservancy –  will make an exciting announcement on Wednesday, November 13, at 11:30 a.m. The JNCA will reveal new partnerships, a significant funding boost, and plans to rename the islands in a move that underscores their conservation mission.

The project will be revealed in detail to the public, showcasing a comprehensive plan designed by Taylor Engineering. This includes a layout of new breakwaters behind the islands, enhancements for seagrass habitats, and restoring and replanting mangroves to stabilize the shoreline and support marine biodiversity.

Mangroves can store up to 10 times more carbon than forests while protecting the shoreline, filtering pollutants, and absorbing excess nutrients from our waters. The photos (below) show just how dire the situation in Jupiter Narrows has become.
