English Español Français Deutsch Italiano Português русский বঙ্গীয় 中文 日本語

WHAT: John Kerry, U.S. Special Presidential Envoy for Climate, will speak at the Ocean-Climate Ambition Summit in one of his first appearances at an international forum as the newly appointed Special Presidential Envoy for Climate.

Countries from around the world are coming together at the Ocean-Climate Ambition Summit to identify priorities and next steps to advance ocean-climate issues at COP26 in Glasgow. Ocean-based climate solutions can provide up to one fifth of the necessary emissions reductions to limit climate change to 1.5°C, and the countries attending the Summit, led by the Friends of the Ocean and Climate countries, are dedicated to leveraging ocean solutions and increasing overall climate ambition to protect the ocean.

After introductory remarks from Janis Searles Jones, Ocean Conservancy CEO, and Elizabeth Cousens, United Nations Foundation President and CEO, Special Envoy Kerry will join his international peers—including Lord Zac Goldsmith (UK), Minister Andrés Allamand (Chile), Minister Andrea Meza (Costa Rica), and many others—to set the tone for ocean and climate action in 2021.
