Sandra Chiri Vargas is Ocean Conservancy’s Shipping Emissions International Outreach Manager. She is from Peru where she studied biology and worked on conservation with Indigenous communities in the Amazon. She is passionate about the intersection of conservation and local livelihoods and has worked in places where communities depend on both land and sea, from the Caribbean to Micronesia. After graduating from the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies, Sandra joined Ocean Conservancy’s efforts and is thrilled to work for the ocean and the communities that rely on it. Sandra is also a passionate surfer, amateur soccer player and Peruvian food lover.
