Anna-Marie is the Senior Director of Climate Policy at Ocean Conservancy, leading the organization’s work towards 100% clean ocean energy by 2050. In her role, she provides strategic leadership over both the organization’s domestic and international climate portfolio. Anna-Marie brings extensive and valuable experience to Ocean Conservancy, gained from more than 15 years advancing policies to protect the ocean and coasts and address climate change. She previously held the role of Director of Policy and Strategic Partnerships, at Rare, a conservation non-profit, leading an international network to advance sustainable small-scale fisheries policy in developing countries. She was also a vital advisor to executive leadership on international ocean and climate policy. Anna-Marie spent five years working in Congress as Ocean and Coastal Policy Advisor for U.S. Senator Sheldon Whitehouse, which included supporting his role on the Environment and Public Works Committee. She was honored to be a Knauss Sea Grant Fellow in 2010 and has a Coastal Environmental Management degree from Duke University, Nicholas School of the Environment, and received a BSc in Marine Science from University of South Carolina. She resides in Washington, D.C with her husband, son, and long-time cat companion, Banks.
