Ian McAbeer is a Partner at Brown Advisory, a global investment management and strategic advisory firm, which is committed to making a meaningful positive difference for its clients, which include individuals, families, nonprofits, charities and institutions in more than 40 different countries. Ian currently serves on the firmwide Portfolio Management Leadership team as well as the Endowment & Foundation team. Ian is the former head of Brown Advisory’s Austin office, a role which began in 2016 following the combination of Brown Advisory with Blackhaw Wealth Management, an investment advisory practice that Ian founded in 2009. Ian currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Austin Parks Foundation as well as the Endowment Committee for St. Andrew’s Episcopal School, in Austin, TX. Ian earned a BS in Marine Engineering Technology from the California Maritime Academy, an MBA from the University of Texas at Austin, and is currently pursuing an MS in Environmental Sciences & Policy from Johns Hopkins University. Ian also holds a U.S. Coast Guard Masters License and is an avid sailor.
