Kristina Tirman is Ocean Conservancy’s Arctic Marine Debris Manager, working with communities, organizations, and Tribes across the state and the Arctic region to help prevent and clean up plastic pollution in this sensitive ecosystem. Prior to Ocean Conservancy, she spent seven years working as the Education and Marine Debris Coordinator at the Sitka Sound Science Center, where she created science curriculums for K-12 grade students and led remote marine debris removal projects. Kristina holds a biology degree from UC Santa Barbara and is an Alaska AmeriCorps alum. She is based in Sitka, Alaska, where she loves spending time on the ocean, in the mountains and at the local animal shelter where she volunteers regularly.
