MEDIA ADVISORY: U.S. Special Presidential Envoy for Climate John Kerry to Join Ocean Side Event Ahead of Leaders Summit on Climate

WHAT: U.S. Special Presidential Envoy for Climate John Kerry will join global leaders at a virtual side event hosted by Friends of the Ocean and Climate countries ahead of President Biden’s Leaders Summit on Climate.

Ocean-based climate solutions can provide up to one fifth of the necessary emissions reductions to limit climate change to 1.5°C. The countries attending the event, How Ocean-Based Solutions Contribute to Net Zero,  are dedicated to leveraging ocean solutions and increasing overall climate ambition to protect the ocean. Speakers will demonstrate their commitment to ambitious ocean-climate action and highlight how they are advancing ocean-based solutions in the run-up to COP26 in Glasgow this November.

WHO: The UN Foundation and Ocean Conservancy are co-organizing the event led by the Friends of the Ocean and Climate countries.
