Former RAY Fellow, Government Relations. Derek Segars is a fourth generation Detroiter with a passion for  environmental reform and sustainable growth. “Gaining a broader understanding of the different ways legislation can be influenced to create community equity is a skill set I am adamant about building,” said Derek A recent graduate from Western Michigan University (BA ’17) with degrees in Political Science and Sociology, Derek is part of Ocean Conservancy’s Government Relations team. He plans on attending law school in the future, and hopes to one day bring Ocean Conservancy’s initiatives to the Great Lakes region.
